Police are warning about “distracted walking” after a woman was hit by a car on Wednesday night in North Vancouver.
The woman was wearing headphones and attempted to cross the road against the signal.
RCMP Corp. Richard de Jong says this is a stark reminder of how dangerous traffic is and how important it is to stay focused on the road.
“Everyone’s carrying a phone these days, they’re texting, they’re listening to music, talking. An intersection is a place where there is a lot of potential danger, there’s movement of cars. That’s why there’s signs that say walk-don’t walk, these are all for the safety of pedestrians.”
We hope she makes a full recovery. Stay alert people!
